Natural Help for Digestion Problems

Food Allergies

Over the years, my opinion about food allergy testing has changed. Several years ago, I tested many of my patients with inflammatory problems for food allergies at the onset of their care. The results indicated what foods they should avoid to help their body’s health expression.

What I learned is that when your GI tract is inflamed, you can test positive for almost every food out there. Your gut is in a constant state of inflammation, and it is responding to everything in it with an inflamed, i.e. allergic, response. Needless to say, this resulted in some almost impossible dietary requirements for patients to follow, which meant that was a lot of money wasted on a test that they couldn’t comply with the results.

I’ve since modified my approach. Now, almost everyone that comes into my clinic starts with a pathogen purge from the GI tract, and continues into a reseeding protocol that includes healing the gut lining. This is a 4-6 week process using specific herbs and supplements. If there are still problems in the GI (rarely there are few, if any, issues remaining at this point) then that is the time to test for food allergies. Natural help for digestion problems offers solutions and results that are lasting.

The Microbiome

Digestive MicrobiomeAddressing the entire G.I. tract is critical, and a part of this critical system is called the Microbiome. The microbiome is defined as the total healthy probiotic organisms that inhabit our entire gastrointestinal tract.
Dysbiosis means that the complex microbiome community is no longer balanced. This could mean you have overgrowth of good bacteria (yes, this causes problems, too), or you have bacteria which belongs in the colon migrating to the small intestine, or finally pathogens like bacteria, fungus, viruses and more may have taken dominance in the guts.

All of these situations cause inflammation in the GI Tract, which then leads to inflammatory conditions in your entire body. These inflammatory conditions can eventually become chronic depression, Irritable Bowel, PMS/PMDD, menopausal problems, overweight issues, reflux, vomiting, dry eyes, eczema and psoriasis, Lupus, autoimmune conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure and so much more.

Leaky Gut
autoimmune disorder and GI microbiomeAnother term, leaky gut, means that the intestines have become overly permeable. This problem is very prevalent in most patients that have any chronic symptoms, and allows larger food or pathogenic particles to migrate from the G.I. tract into the blood stream.

This improper migration elicits a strong reaction from the immune system, immediately followed by inflammation and activated antibodies. These activated antibodies are what show up on food allergy tests.

customized supplement programs for candidaChronic exposure to elements that are not where they should be in the body leads to toxicity. This evolves into serious digestive system disorders and symptoms can be mild to severe. I’ve had many patients in my clinic who literally haven’t been able to eat without throwing up for years. Under my care, their problems have resolved in 2-3 months. If you have been previously diagnosed with a so-called autoimmune disorder, you will definitely go through a GI pathogen protocol.

My GI Wellness program is designed to approach these issues holistically yet powerfully. I use at least 7 formulas in two multi-week steps to achieve digestive rebuilding and microbiome decolonization and reseeding. This includes eliminating candida (a diet isn’t enough to do this), bacteria and other toxins.

Step 1 is the pathogen purge and dysbiosis improvement phase, typically lasting from 2-4 weeks. Step 2 detoxifies and prepares the terrain to accept new healthier microorganisms and delivers proven ingredients for improving intestinal integrity. It continues with intestinal integrity, delivering especially high doses of 10 strains of probiotics encapsulated in prebiotics.

For those with severe issues, you will continue on a protocol of healing the gut lining that is less intense than the initial 2 months for several months after. It takes up to 18 months to totally repopulate and heal a gut lining.
